The festive season just ended this past December. Keeping in mind that innately we are always extravagant during Christmas, but  we are on another year, planning ahead for the next festivities, Easter, and other holidays that may come in between. With kids going back to school this January, parents are working on a budget to cover for school fees,new uniforms and stationary but when it comes to food we should go affordable but healthy.Today we are going to look at some easy ways to make tasty meals in an affordable way.

1.Use fruits and vegetables in season.
This means utilizing fruits and vegetables that are growing in their season.Thisnis because they are usually freeh,sweeter, and affordable since they are in plenty.These fruits and vegetables are fresh and readily available. Some of the fruits include: Kiwis, Oranges, Grapes, lime, and certain pear varieties. Some of these vegetables include: Carrots,Tulips,Beans,Beats,Kales, Spinach, Cabbage, broccoli, Butternuts quash,Spaghetti squash, and cauliflower.

2. Buy in bulk.
Buying foodstuffs that are not perishable or dont spoil quickly such as rice, pasta, beans or spices in bulk saves you alot of money. This also ensures that there is readily available food for a quick meal.

3. Mix your own spices.
There are different things in the kitchen that you can make at home, for instance you can have a home baked bread or cake, and in the same way you can also mix your own home made spices instead of buying expensive spices. This will save you a lot of money. Considering that buying fresh spices from the market.Is cheaper than buying already processed spices.

4. Having a meal timetable.
This means that having a plan for your meals.To avoid wasting food, this will enable you use what you already have, thereby preventing you from ordering takeouts therefore saving money.

5. Do not throw away leftovers.
You can get creative with those leftovers. Instead of throwing them away, you can turn them into a new dish that is tasty classy and healthy.

6. Make your own snacks.
Instead of buying snacks from the market or ordering them online you can make also make yours at home that will be mych more healther and fresh. You can make your own popcorns.Groundnuts even crisps.
